Rocket Launch!

We had the unique opportunity to see our fifth grade science buddies launch their handmade rockets! The Kindergarteners sat in awe anxiously awaiting the countdown for each set of rockets that were launched high into the sky! One of the fifth graders took a few minutes to explain how she made her rocket. 

Kickball Fun!

We had a friendly game of kickball with Mrs. Harbour and Mrs. Wright 's kindergarten class. It's always interesting and wildly entertaining to see Kindergarteners kick the ball, run the bases, and field the ball. Everyone had a great time! 

Math Center Fun!

It's the end of the year and what could be more fun than getting to choose your own math center? It sounds like a little thing, but our kiddos were so excited to go to whatever math center they wanted to.  I think it was extra special because I added two new centers, which were Calendar Math (which was student led) and "Teacher at the Whiteboard (which was also student led).  The other students chose between fluency facts within five, 3-D shape bingo, addition and subtraction facts to ten, and "double compare" with number cards. These students have grown so much and are ready for first grade math next year!

The Rainbow Fish

Friendship, thinking of others before yourself, and being kind were all part of the message behind the craft and treat that Max's mom planned for our class last week. After reading the book, The Rainbow Fish, the students got to make their own paper plate rainbow fish. They chose the colors of the scales they wanted to use and even had "special" scales that were shiny. The students also got to make a necklace by stringing together four gummy Swedish Fish. The only "catch" was that they couldn't eat their own gummy fish.  Instead, the students walked around and offered their gummy treats to their friends. It was such a great way for students to practice the gift of giving. It was a lot of fun too!  Thank you Mrs. Rachael!

A Visit From Miss River City

We had a special guest come to visit our kindergarten class last week. Miss River City and her honorary River City Princess came to read a book to our class. The students "oohed"  and "aahed" at their sashes and crowns.  After reading the book, I Knew You Could, Miss River City talked to the students about their dreams! It was such an encouraging message and visit!!

Preschool Visit!

We took preschoolers on a tour of our school, including our cafeteria, hallways, music room, art room, playground, and even our kindergarten classroom.  This opportunity is such a great way for them to feel a little more comfortable prior to going to kindergarten next school year! Our students were eager to want to teach them new things! We even snapped a photo of some of our Kindergarteners with their teachers from preschool last year! 

Gifted Musical

We were invited to see the musical performance by Mrs. Zawis and Mrs. Skipper's gifted classes. All of the students did a great job!! We were especially proud of our classmates: Emma, Ethan, and Michael!! You were awesome!!
